Welcome to Nicholson & Co.

Established in Worcester in 1841 by John Nicholson, the name Nicholson & Company has become synonymous with beautiful-toned, comfortable, long-lasting, reliable pipe organs which display the highest standards of design, craftsmanship and finish.

For over 175 years, Nicholson & Co. has created instruments of distinction for cathedrals, churches, colleges, schools and private clients as well as undertaking the historical restoration and renovation of many hundreds of organs throughout the UK and overseas.

Each new Nicholson & Co. organ is individually designed and crafted by our highly trained, skilled and dedicated team, many of whom have been with the company all their working life. We source only the finest materials and components to ensure perfect results coupled with reliability and longevity. Whilst conceiving tonal schemes which do justice to schools of organ music from all countries and eras, the organs created by Nicholson & Co consciously retain their essential Englishness, a sound based on the beautiful tone produced by craftsmen such as John Nicholson back in the mid-nineteenth century.

Nicholson & Co. is proud to have a workforce with extensive experience and knowledge, many having served apprenticeships with the company, and whose abilities cover every conceivable aspect of the art of organ building and restoration. Though traditional in our skills we constantly re-evaluate our technical designs so as to offer our clients the most up-to-date instruments possible. Our spacious modern premises are laid out for efficient working within a pleasant and safe working environment, situated in inspiring countryside near Malvern. We have excellent facilities: for woodworking to the highest standards (including our comfortable consoles), for bellows and all types of leatherwork, for many designs of note and stop actions, an electrical department, voicing shops for flue and reed pipes, and are one of the few British companies retaining its own metal shop for the manufacture and restoration of pipes. We were early leaders in the field of computer-aided design and our work now benefits from our great experience in this field.

All enquiries are welcome and will be responded to quickly and efficiently.

The company is a business member of the IBO (Institute of British Organ Building), having accreditation for all categories.
