Glasgow – Bute Hall, University of Glasgow

The Bute Hall is the main ceremonial and graduation hall of the University of Glasgow, and sits at the centre of the main Gothic Revival university building, often considered to be George Gilbert Scott’s masterpiece.

The organ in the hall was built in 1901 by Lewis & Co. of London, and was substantially rebuilt by Hill, Norman & Beard in 1962. We are delighted to have been commissioned to provide a new electronic transmission, a new piston capture system, and carry out a full refurbishment of the four-manual console. This important work will help safeguard the reliable operation of this large instrument as part of a long-term phased programme to restore the instrument.
