Repairs and tonal adjustments to 2007 IV/62 von Beckerath organ
2025
We were honoured to have been commissioned to undertake a programme of work to the 2007 IV/62 von Beckerath organ in the chapel of Marlborough College.
Some tonal adjustments have been made:
Great Organ
– revoicing and re-balancing of principal chorus. This included revoicing the Principal Celeste 8′ as a Diapason 8′.
– Bombarde 16′, Trompete 8′ and Clarine 4′ revoiced with new shallots and tongues to give them a broader, more blending tone.
Swell Organ
– Trompette Harmonique 8′ and Clairon 4′ repaired and revoiced with new shallots and tongues to give them a broader, more blending tone.
– Basson 16′ and Hautbois 8′ repaired and revoiced.
Solo Organ
– Tuba 8′ replaced with new pipework on higher pressure
– Clarinet 8′ replaced with new pipework
– Trumpet 8′ repaired and revoiced
The perished rubberised cloth on the main reservoir in the organ has been renewed.
All four expression engines (two each for the Swell and Solo boxes) have been replaced with a pair (one each for the Swell and Solo boxes) of new linear actuators.
